I guess the best thing to do is to attend the band's live concerts and buy their new recording "Revelation" to be released soon and then make a sound judgement and opinion.
Journey still exists with Schon, Cain, Castronovo and Valory to continue entertaining the band's millions of fans.
And they got Arnel to help them in their sacred mission.
Steve Perry decided to quit with his million dollars and let us give the man the peace he deserves in his retirement.
Journey is here to entertain.
And if you think you'll be entertained with the band's new voice in Arnel Pineda, then go buy their new CDs and DVDs and attend their live gigs.
And if youre a die-hard Steve Perry fan, stick to your old collection of Journey records with Steve Perry's voice.
Journey's rebirth is also geared towards the youths of today who never knew the band.
The point here is us being entertained.
And Arnel Pineda refreshes Journey.
Arnel's detractors have no choice.
Steve quit performing for his fans.
Arnel Pineda will bring in millions of new Journey fans - and more hit music - more greatness - and money.
Also, Steve Perry was also a replacement
for an original member of Journey. Perry
was so good, blended well with the group and became successful.
Arnel Pineda is again another replacement who will get attention by making Journey's classic hits new again and introduce new music masterpieces the Journey way.
And history sometimes repeats itself.

after steve perry the band had steve aguerri then joff scott... so arnel pineda is actually the third lead vocalist of the legendary badn "the journey." why do the people here keep on comparing just arnel and steve? steve is a legend and very good.. he will always be steve perry. but why was he replaced by the band?
arnel pineda is in fact a very good singer. he sings from his soul. and if i may compare, he is the best vocalist the journey has ever had. you may have your views and its ur right.

I've never known Journey and its members before but I've always loved their great songs like "Open Arms". When I found out that the new lead singer is Filipino, I became curious to know more about Arnel. I'm Filipino but it doesn't mean I will automatically praise and support him, but for the last few months of comparing Arnel with SP, I could say that he's the right choice to replace SP. SP was a great lead singer for Journey and there's no question about that. I'm just glad to see them back!

Hes just a Steve Perry copy. Steve Perry is the original, and just because Arnel sounds like him, it also means hell never match him because hes a copy.

I respect ur opinion, but I think the choice of word - "copy" is inappropriate because Arnel has its own original version of every Journey's songs everytime he sings them. The Jouney has new songs from their latest album and there are clear differences in vocals and range between AP and SP. Most importantly,your favorite band has come back & reformed with Arnel who happens to sound like Perry but with better techniques and vocals in my opinion.I like both of them and am just glad they're back.

I think Pineda does a fine job. What else could Journey do since Perry didn't want to tour? Of course it is one thing to sing a song and another to write it and sing it. If I were to compare I would say Perry puts in more inflections and articulates more definitively.Perry seems more comfortable and flexible in the high notes too(in his prime). Any one of us would have accepted the job if we were offered and had the talent. We don't, so we weren't. Good for Pineda.I envy him.

We all love and respect Steve Perry and what they did with the band in the past. For what ever the reason Steve had with the band is what it is. The rest of the members would like to move on tour. They found a incredible singer Arnel to move them from the past to the furture. I think Arnel brings a different and interesting twist to this new adventure. I think the "the new journey" will spread like a wild fire to affect the old and the new. Just very glad to see them back//////

Steve Perry probably is happy that Arnel Pineda is able to carry on the Legacy Sound. This itself immortalize his part of the band. In my opinion, SA and JSS failed to revive that magic when SP left. Now that AP is here, even if its Arnel's voice we'll be hearing for the years to come, it will still make us remember SP. More power to AP!!!

err better check out steve's version of open arms before the chorus and you'll see on some point Arnel brings more magic to this song, please think before you comment, Arnel isnt a copy, he had an album here in the philippines entitled "ARNEL" and this is his voice back then so why the hell r u sayinjg Arnel COPIED Steve's voice, if all Steve Perry FAns read your statement they will Flame you, i LIKE STEVE PERRY but I ALSO LOOK UP to ARNEL they arent thesame each has his own unique voice..FTW

People had doubts till "back in black" came out - and that sold over 20 million copies.
Same goes with Van Halen with Sammy Hagar replacing David Lee Roth.

Arnel is the man! He rocks the classics as good as Perry can but when he hits the new stuff from 'Revelations' he goes above and beyond what Perry could do.
Perry's voice is gone, it has been since the early 90's and he was a cancer that tore the band apart and ruined one comeback.
'Revelations' is an amazing AOR album and AP is an amazing frontman with passion, energy, talent and showmanship unparalleled.

Jonathan Cain said in one radio interview, they don't want to be a "tribute band" they want to be totally something new. With Arnel Pineda they found what they are looking for.
