(September 20, 2007) The Colombian FARC is one of the oldest and best equipped insurgencies in the world. They've kidnapped hundreds of people, sometimes holding them for a decade or more. When one man walked across the nation in protest, a million Colombians joined in. Now, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has offered to negotiate with the FARC - an offer refused by Colombian President Uribe.

Open a second world front, that on the surface has no link to global jihadism, this will attenuate what's left of support for US international humanitarianism and use of force against tyrants, interesting chess move Mr. Chavez.
