(September 20, 2007) The Colombian FARC is one of the oldest and best equipped insurgencies in the world. They've kidnapped hundreds of people, sometimes holding them for a decade or more. When one man walked across the nation in protest, a million Colombians joined in. Now, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has offered to negotiate with the FARC - an offer refused by Colombian President Uribe.

I can't believe anyone would want to support Uribe or Columbian government. These people think it is okay just to send soldiers across the Equadorian border. Not only that, they do nothing to fight groups like the Black Eagles, a group that kills any trade union officials that try to improve the awful conditions of the poor. The only Columbians commenting here are the rich ones, who dont give a crap about their own countrymen. Theres a reason the rest of Latin America hate you not just Chavez.

Can you explain then why Coca-Cola, a "legitimate" company in Columbia, is allowed to use the Black Eagles to kill trade union leaders? Also, why does Uribe refuse to negotiate with FARC? How can you expect peace with a man like that in charge? Anyone who promises security in a country will always get support, the Nazis and the Taliban were popular because they did after periods of conflict. And can you explain on why Columbia is considered the Israel of Latin America?

First the only one that considers us the Israel of Latin America is Chavez (And that is not a very good reference), second Uribe don't refuse negotiate whit FARC, They were who did it a lot of time ago with Colombia. The problem is that unless you acknowledge that FARC has a valid point the war will never end. And if the government was serious about negotiation they would have taken the offer Chavez gave to mediate peace negotiations. By the way before you criticise Chavez again remember the US tried a coup against him in which if successful he would have been killed, so you can't blame him for his anti-American stance.
