Your right, Communism on paper is very fair, however it never works in practicality. As far as you "favoring a system that confiscates businesses and corporations rather than homes" then don't rely on Communism because THEY do confiscate homes like most of mine were confiscated and redistributed to the "official elite society" along with my money and cars. You would not last 5 minutes in a Communist society as you are a habitual complainer not satisfied with anything ever.
I really don't understand why most people keep insisting on Havana being a "mafia" ridden city. It was a progressive City with casinos yes but it also had a flourishing society of upper, middle and poor class. Under your presumption then Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Miami, Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid and all other cities that allow gambling are mafia enclaves and should be eliminated..
Lets put it this way and forget about the long dictatorship for a moment, people were allowed to do bussines, travel, move from towns, change jobs etc and even Fidel Castro himself as a political prisoner was treated way better than Oscar Elias and many others.
Cuba was third of Latin American developed countries in 59, today is last next to Haiti.

You obviously haven't got a clue as to what Havana was in 1959. Your ignorance has come out clearly in these few lines you wrote. Not everyone was a dancer, not everyone was a waiter and all Fidel did was royally F-up a prosperous country paralyzing it in 1959 and replacing it with ration cards, substandard housing and transportation, and general scarcity of everything. Yet as you say we all moved to Miami which is a thriving metropolis...guess what this shows Fidel sucks!
