The selecção has now turned into a joke, an the biggest of them all plays with the jersey "7". I mean, ronaldo doesnt even "play" in the selecção, he parades around. If queirós had balls, he´d be cut out fromthe next call-ups. It´s ridiculous how the so called best player in the world never played s%&t for his national team.

Ronaldo should definitely not be captain. Also Queiroz keeps calling Nani yet he doesn't even play for United.

Queirós, and even before, Scolari, both offered the captaincy to ricardo carvalho, but he declined. It´s the major problem for the selecção nowadays, the lack of leadership on the pitch. the team is way too bland and unaggressive, with no pride and determination. Theres the lack of a commanding voice, like Figo was.

Well, Nuno Gomes was a good captain during the Euro, but he'dget taken off during the 50th minute, so that in itself kinda left the team leader-less.
I'm sure players like Deco or Maniche would become captain, if given the opportunity, or maybe even Bruno Alves...then there's always Simao. Carlos does have some potential leaders in the team, but he uses players who don't even make it to the starting 11 (Nani) or Boa Morte, while more talented players like F.Meira or Miguel don't play at all.

I really don't like the way they are playing right now. No life..passion, anything. I'd rather the team play with wingers Ronaldo and Quaresma more than anything. Simao isn't that good, and Nani has been going downhill. Team captain I would say Deco. I don't know why Miguel isn't in since he is an awesome player and both him and Bosingwa are both good attack minded defenders. The team has the talent just not the chemistry or coach for that matter. At least Scolari kept them in check.

the only player i ever see consistently playing well is Bosingwa..
I think they should keep Simao in though.. he played well after being subbed in vs Albania but replace Duda or someone like that with Quaresma

Portugal coach is fucking stupid. Instead of starting Simao, Nani, Quaresma, Nuno Gomes, Ricardo Carvalho, Maniche etc etc, he subs in the noobs of the team and subs the stars for each other making the team more bullshit. scolari will be missed but i think Portugal will be at 2010

Carvalho plays and so does Simao, Nani comes off the bench and I don't think Gomes wants to play in qualifiers. They should play Quaresma though and same with Maniche.. Maniche did so good in big cups but they never play him anymore.

its the coaches fault. Nani should always start so then Portugal will come off to a great start in games. and they shouldn't subsititue one of their stars for stars during crucial games. as forQuaresma and Maniche, you're right both of them are great players and can change the tempo of the game ESPECIALLY Maniche just like he did in 06. Portugal just need a great coach and they need Nuno Gomes to be the Nuno Gomes of old if they want to fill it up with goals

Nuno Gomes doesn't even play anymore.. Portugal uses Almeida now and he's actually pretty decent. He's not fast but he has a hard, accurate shot. Quaresma should be put in as one of the centre midfielders because at the moment they have Duda playing there and he just isn't a good player. Postiga should play back up striker and Miguel should be put into the backfield every now and then. Maniche HAS to be put in there somewhere, I don't care if it's as a starter or off the bench. This coach sucks.
