It is truly uncanny that a handful of English blokes could end up being so rhythmically adept. 'You Gotta Move'
both the bands had respect for each others work, so why cant other people?
There shouldnt be an argument about it guys chill out, just enjoy the music if you can :)
los mejores,
good video;)
saludossssssss
you DID try to speak for all black people: "I'm black and i love the stone." Your implication is clear, as if your one individual acceptance and tolerance of raping/whipping slaves past midnight makes it ok for all others. It doesn't.
House negroes probably said "I love my massa. Why all these other slaves getting so upset? They mind getting whipped past midnight? What a bunch of complainers!"
Read the lyrics!
Then think about it.
Think that these are the same people who wrote in another song "black girls just wanna get f'ed all night". Blanket ignorant racist statement.
Stop making excuses for racism!
That said, I don't see any correlation between the song Brown Sugar, and the abject racism and poverty that runs rampant in this, and so many other, countries.
Concentrating on the real, tangible causes of such ignorance and hatred is vital. But, if Brown Sugar fits into your definition of racism, and you can honestly say you help the impoverished...more power to you. Peace.
Great version
This song is clearly racist.
Stop making excuses, going off the deep end with all caps. While you might enjoy getting raped and whipped "past midnight", most people don't!
This is not "innocent fun hey let's just dance to this historical lecture". Forcing a black slave to choose between rape and favorable treatment erodes her very integrity as a human being with free will. Perversely, she somehow now has the luxury of the choice itself that other slaves did not. Um _not_ good.
Bad.
Racist.
So stop trying to justify it!
