You're right as I'm a WHite Spanish Person who has a Half brother who's Mestizo( mixed native and spanish) and a Step dad who's mulatto Puerto rican (black spanish). You need to take another history class. The people of Spain are largely white with Jewish and Gitano folk too. It's the mixed spanish people of the Americas that are of darker color such as the black Latinos like David Ortiz and Rosie Perez. Then you have the larger native mixes like those of Mexico all the way down to Chile . Only a small fraction of spanish speaking natives are not of some European blood. Then you have Gitano (gypsies) and Sephards( jews) who left Spain.
