How dare you speak of Patti LuPone that way. You are the one who is "unrespectful". That's not even a word. The word you were looking for is disrespectful. You should at least use actual words if you are going to try to slam somebody, that just shows how little you really know. And she is one of the best stage performers of the modern era, so I would hardly say she is horrible. Seriously, MARIONOHARRY1980, don't make derogatory comments about things you obviously don't understand.

i love both this version and the Madonna version. Madonna sounds more like she is giving a speech, whilst i adore the way Patti Lupone just belts out the bits where she adresses the crowd

"Full-throttle soprano?" Please, don't misunderstand me, I love Patti to bits, but I think the announcer is a little confused. Patti is a mezzo or an alto (probably more mezzo), but she is not a full-blown soprano. Sopranos sing Johanna's role, Christine, and other such high roles. Not Eva, Mrs. Lovett, or Mama Rose.
Sorry if this is offensive, but I don't want any confusion on that subject. There is a huge difference between soprano and Patti.
Still, she is great! I love her Eva!

I think she has a wonderful range. Girls are quite the opposite of men -- their vocal ranges favor the high notes rather than the low. The fact that she has such a solid and resonant low register makes her unique amongst a sea of soprano women who all sing like screeching violins.
