Haha, apparently you've never seen were Mayer, Frusciante, and Trucks played together. Frusciante was completely out of his league. He's good, but he doesn't hang with the best.
So many haters in here. Mayer plays SRV, Hendrix, EVH, and plays with Clapton, Buddy Guy, BB King and many others.
He is what the guitar world needs today, to pull us out of a quagmire of bullshit bands.

Frusciante can't play at all dude. When he solos he does the same thing over and over and over and over again and does it sloppily. He's not a guitar god in any way shape or form. He's not a lead player. John Mayer can play on his own without a band, Frusciante or the rest of RHCP can't play without each other they all feed off of each other to sound good cohesively.

I didnt say he was amazing - but I did say that he was better than mayer. Having done my research, I can now come to 1 conlusion; Mayer is a pop guitarist who can play a little faster than most other pop guitarists. And, when you say "a shitty garage band that didnt make it anywhere", are yo refering to RHCP... you know, one of the biggest bands in the world? And, also, fruscante is regarded as .ore of a guitar hero than mayer by pretty much everybody on the planet

yeah, I am comparing my shitty high school garage band (which you never heard, but you say is shitty) from 15 years ago to this. This sounds worse. A lot worse. I do not know how else to portray that to you.
Maybe if you knew anything about guitar, you would know that mayer is good. To say that he is "one of the greatest guitar players of this era" is a very bold statement, and it shows your youth and inexperience with music.

Im a huge JM fan and this was good, not amazing but kinda lemony fresh to what he's used to... I have to say I think mudvayne would cover this a lot better... Im high right now, but I could see JM playing for a major thrash band, and impressing everyone "SlipKnot"... I called it!
