Hello, fellow MegaRace fans! MegaRace is one of many videogames made for DOS. Unfortunately for us, DOS is almost obsolete! But, thanks to emulation, we can "emulate" almost any DOS program, including "MegaRace"! This is DOSBox: one the best emulators for DOS! It works just like a DOS command line prompt and almost perfectly emulates "MegaRace"! But, before we can emulate MegaRace, we need three things:
1. DOSBox. You can download it for free at:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/
2. MegaRace CD-ROM. You can buy one of these on eBay
3. MegaRace Emulator Patch. You can download off my MegaRace fansite.

Once you have all of these, you'll be ready to emulate "MegaRace"! Okay, let's get started! First, "unzip" the contents of the "megarace_emulator_patch.zip" file. The contents in the zip file are basically the file that contain the saved data for MegaRace's high scores, etc. After that, go to C:\ and create a new folder called, "MEGARACE". Then, take the contents from the zip file and place them INSIDE the "MEGARACE" folder.

Duke nukem has an awesome OpenGL windows port called EDUKE or you can also try the older version of JFDUKE. You can download High resolution pack for it that includes Hightile textures, detail textures, skyboxes and 3d models. Awesome FREE stuff!! Just search for it!

Ahh, yes, the old CD I got when I was, like, 5...or even 6. Really good on a Pentium 3, stock. It was about the coolest game at the time, because it was shooting and racing AT THE SAME TIME! Really good video, but I don't wanna wreck the game by installing a patch...

I can't get good graphic on dosbox - I remember it was guite nice on my old P133, but on dosbox it's so pixelised. Anyone knows how to fix it??? PLEASE!

that's because DOSBox enlarges the screen to twice the size by default.
To make the game less pixelized, go find your Dosbox.conf file in your DOSBox directory and open it. Find the part of the file where it says, "scaler = normal2x" and replace normal2x with 2xsai. That should fix it.

Megarace was the first CD-Rom game I ever played on my first ever home PC back in 1994. I was running Windows 3.1 and it DID use the mouse. Thats the only way I played actually lol. I love this game so much the music was awesome. Thanks for the video I'll be sure to dig out my old cd of this and start playing it!

ok i got megarace running but it runs slow, the videos run fine but the tracks lag and the steering is slow and i dont go fast i also havent played this game since i was 5 so i dont remember how to speed up// please reply!
