I once watched my friend Chris ('Kit') play this game for 3 hours on 1 quarter. He actually went outside the arcade, had a smoke and returned to still have scores of ships left!

You have fast hands. I just recently got my highest score ever on defender-392K and some points. I was so mad, I wanted 400K. Red ROMS, EV main board, stargate sound rom, and later version widget.
I like stargate better though. You have fast hands. I wonder what the diffuculty was set on, mine is Factory 5-15.

What a blast from the past! I used to be one of those one quarter - one million guys back in the early eighties. I was never good at Defender, but Stargate was such a beautiful program I had to learn it. Do you have one of these machines? You gotta work on your over all flying speed and the inviso button, man!

I just play using mame, you should check it out. tons of old games free. You are right, I sometimes forget about inviso! :)

Aah yes brings back memories for sure! 50 cents play the game for hours and hours. Never broke 2 million though. :(

It felt as though I was back in '81,those familiar sounds.I still recall playing for about 8 hours and breaking the 10 million mark,but the level of difficulty was a little easier than normal as you fellow old school gamers remember-but still(10 million)!!!

Hard to believe this was made in 1981! The sweet 1980's games! One of the best ever - still beats the hell out of most video games from the last 20 years. Beautiful!

Back in the days I used to play this game. I would spend 25 cents and could literally stay on the machine as long as I wanted to. It was great fun. I do admit I did spend my share of quarters to get that good.

idiot, defender had more options (warp) as well as more weapons (inviso) so naturally it would seem harder. But the graphics action and theme were on point!

good Defender players off It didn't ship anywhere nearly as many units as Defender did

harder??? not sure my high score on this was way more than on defender could last for ages on defender easier to get points on stargate by warp,did it do something if you reversed into warp box with 4 humans???? been too long
